The impact on the African slave trade from the 16th to 19th centuries was enormous. The economies of those countries that allowed the African slave trade became increasingly larger. For example, America, a huge land that had nothing before trade, began to profit from agriculture and greatly increased its population. They used a large amount of African slaves to farm and work. And this improved the economy in America. Even the Europeans, who were only one million people, brought 5.5 million African slaves (men, women, children) to the Western Hemisphere. Of 5.5 million slaves, 80% were enslaved as field (sugar) workers. With all these slaves working in the Western Hemisphere, Europeans made huge profits and were able to dominate sugar production. Africans exchanged humans for materials such as guns and rifles to protect themselves from their neighbors. Trade was necessary for Africans and this allowed them to protect themselves. This was the enormous impact he had on the African slave trade. However, the problem with the African slave trade was the treatment of the slaves. Slaves were forced to work every day; sometimes they had to take risks to complete their work. African slaves were treated poorly under the owner. Slaves worked on the plantation from dawn to dusk. During weekdays they worked approximately 18 hours starting from 6am until midnight. Most slaves had "weekends" as free time, but slaves worked on those days anyway because they had to make up for late work. Slaves were used to working all their lives. Even infants and young children had to stay with their mothers in the camps for sleep or care.
