Topic > The Salem Witch Trials and the Red Scare - 1072

During the 1950s, the United States was afraid of the communist party. This caused the United States to quickly judge anyone deemed communist. A similar story was the struggle that John Proctor had. John Proctor lived in a super correct society, with many superstitious people due to the ongoing witch trials. The Salem witch trials were filled with lies from people who were witches that would ultimately destroy their reputations. The United States was in a state of fear when it feared that communist agents would come and try to destroy our government system. An example of this fear was the Cold War. During the Cold War, the United States supported the anti-communist group while the Soviet Union favored the communist party. Many people who still supported the communist party still lived in the United States. When the United States entered the Cold War, trying to liberate the communist party from Europe and Asia, the United States feared that the people who lived in the United States and who they still supported communism they were spies this would feed information back to the Soviet Union to try to destroy their government. If someone was suspected of communism, if they simply didn't like someone, or if they were even greedy, they could accuse that person of communism and the person would be thrown into the penitentiary, thus starting the second Red Scare. The Red Scare was a time when people were falsely accused of being communist spies and were sent to prison. If someone hated his neighbor, a colleague, or even a teacher, he could simply accuse him of being a communist spy. Some cases were even as serious as in the case of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg. They were accused of stealing information about the atomic bomb and providing it in... middle of paper... destroyed, people quickly judged by false accusations and the imprisonment of innocent people. As you can see over time, people have had the same cases with lies falsely accusing people. As long as man is on this Earth, he will lie about what others do to destroy their reputations. From cases where John Proctor was accused of using witchcraft, to people in the United States during the Cold War who were falsely accused of communism, people will always blame others for their lies. No one was safe in those times, anyone could be accused, for any reason, at any time, even dogs were accused of witchcraft during the Salem witch trials. Works cited "McCarthyism". Wikipedia.
