For many teenagers, their eighteenth birthday is an exciting time in their lives. They are finally becoming legal adults and are free from the rules and restrictions created under their parents. It is not known why children in care are at greater risk of these problems, but many medical professionals believe this is caused by the circumstances that led to them being placed in care and the experiences they have had while in care (Jaudes 1170). Although they are prone to face more medical problems than adolescents raised in nuclear families, there is a lack of support to care for these adolescents.
