The fox effect is a perfect example of how the media can be biased. Fox News is known for providing news sources that favor the right-wing political wing, providing a distorted view of the news topic due to biased reporting. This causes a problem for people who are looking for a balanced account of a topic without hearing only one side of an argument. Thus, leaving the public misinformed. The Syrian civil war is a battle between the Syrian government and those seeking to overthrow it. The civil war began as a civil uprising due to government corruption and human rights abuses, but quickly transformed from a minor protest into an armed rebellion. The uprising began around March 15, 2011 and is still the subject of controversy today. Actual casualty figures are a bit murky due to numerous estimates provided by multiple groups. The United Nations estimated on 24 July 2013 that there are over 100,000 victims. Further estimates have been provided by activist groups, indicating that the death toll from this civil war is between 102,573 and 150,344. While the SOHR (Syrian Observatory for Human Rights) estimates that the total victims are 206,065. One incident that turned the Syrian population into a hotbed of debate over immediate military action was a tragic chemical attack in Ghouta, Syria.
