Most of the weapons turned in were hunting weapons. These types of weapons are not usually used in crimes. The type of weapons most commonly used in crimes are assault rifles. These weapons were not handed over because the people who are the criminals in the crimes will not follow the rules, so they will not follow the rules and will not hand over their weapons. When the guns are taken away there will be a black market with more guns involved. Just like illegal substances like marijuana and other drugs, you will still be able to find a way to purchase them and a lot of money will be made in this business. Just like the drug business, there will be a lot of buying and selling, but the government will not get taxes from this, as it did before outlawing gun ownership. There will never be a day when violence no longer exists. With or without a gun people will still be killed by other people. Taking away guns would damage the economy and put many people out of work. Gun smuggling will be just like the drug smuggling that is already there. So next time you hear a protest against removing guns, think about how you would hurt the economy and removing guns won't solve the act of violence.
