It has come a long way since the 30 doctors created it to help find a cure for diabetes in 1940. The smartest thing they could have done was to restructure the organization into so that anyone could become a member and help study and research the disease. Through this, the American Diabetes Association has become one of the world's leading nonprofit organizations with more than 100 chapters nationwide that research and serve communities to help fight and prevent diabetes. They have everything from expert scientists researching the cure to ordinary citizens contributing their time to help fight this disease. The ADA offers many opportunities for everyone in the country to take part in events and campaigns to help spread the word about diabetes. Millions of dollars are donated to the ADA every year, with every penny possible going towards research. With commitment and passion like this, maybe one day there will be a cure
