A Bridge to Terabithia is a novel with two young characters, Jess and Leslie. Both characters experience realistic problems that many children their age face every day. Jess has a different personality and imagination than the others, which makes him a victim of bullying at school. Leslie is neglected at home and is the new girl at school. Leslie uses her imagination to come up with a funny prank to get back at the school bully. Bridge to Terabithia includes many positive elements. It's one thing when Jess helps Leslie by becoming her friend. So, Leslie helps Jess when he has anger issues and she calms him down. There are also some negative elements. One of them is that Jess is treated badly by his family. Another is that the tragedy described by the book could have been avoided. Katherine Paterson was born in Qing Jiang, China on October 24, 1932. Her father was headmaster of a girls' school called Sutton. When Katherine was five years old, she and her family were forced to leave China during the Japanese invasion in 1937. They moved to Richmond, Virginia. They then returned to China where they were forced to leave again, but this time they moved to North Carolina. Katherine is a Presbyterian Christian. Her occupation is a writer. Katherine is also an award-winning American author of children's books. A Bridge to Terabithia is the most recognized book in the world. A Bridge to Terabithia was published in 1977. He is currently vice president of the National Children's Book and Literacy Alliance. A Bridge to Terabithia has been made into a movie, twice in fact.
