Intrigued by the global care chain theory and changes in elder care due to the national trend of rural-urban migration, this study aims to propose the new research direction of the national healthcare chain in China. In the background section, the starting point of the Global Care Chain will be followed by the status of elderly care and contributions related to rural-urban migration in China. Considering the methods, this study collects secondary data and designs a survey for quantitative analysis, while conducting interviews for thematic analysis in the case of Shanghai. The expected results section includes literature implications on the care chain in China, practical implications for elderly care in both rural and urban areas, and policy implications.1.
