Magellan, the now famous leader of the voyage that circumnavigated the globe, is dead, but eighteen men remain and continue the journey home. Antonio Pigafetta is recording the experiences of the voyage after Magellan's guidance and must save the remaining crew and ship in the most useful way to the king of Spain. It is 1521 and the Victoria is the only remaining ship of the expedition sailing to what is now the Philippines in search of islands to begin trade with, the main reason they are on their way to circumnavigate the globe in search of a trade route faster than the commonly used route under Africa.
