Topic > Toyota Prius Advertising Campaign - 959

When launching its advertising campaign for the Prius, Toyota often painted a grossly inaccurate portrayal of the effects of its vehicles. Often the suggestion of a feeling of “doing nothing wrong” or “I love the environment more than you” is conveyed. Eventually, someone got fed up with the stereotypical image created by Toyota and launched their own advertisement, preferring to use body-dumpers rather than environmentally conscious individuals as model drivers. Indeed the Prius is a revolutionary vehicle, its fuel efficiency and low emissions have had a huge positive impact on both the environment and consumers' wallets, but it seems that Toyota is getting a little too ahead of itself. Many of us understand that if we hear or see something that is too good to be true, it logically cannot be. Driving a Prius does not condone our transgressions against Mother Nature or even others, and by appealing to logos the author successfully challenges Toyota's claims that seem to say otherwise. Furthermore, while we don't all carry the skeletons of a murder in our closet, nor do we live in a world where light and darkness are separated from each other by a vehicle, the suggestions of images are no longer inflated than a Toyota advertisement. Exaggeration and pathos are cleverly employed to draw attention to the author's conflicting vision of the Prius, once again challenging Toyota's assurances. The Prius offers many benefits for both the public world and the private life of the consumer, but at the same time it does not offer a free "get out of jail" card for bad choices. Lumia 2The cliché of the conflict between light and darkness that has been employed in countless literary and visual masterpieces are once again selected to help the doomed...... center of the card ......g with logic and viewer's emotions to reflect how Toyota has claimed that its vehicle can make you a superhuman environmentalist and, overall, a better human being through ownership of its new hybrid model. While Toyota's advertising campaign has proven effective over the years, Toyota's follow-up is slowly starting to remove the smoke of deceptive advertisements that have been pulled over one's eyes. Small rebels have begun to chip away at what was once the armor of a seemingly invincible company, while the latest Prius model is plagued by recalls and challenges from politicians and businessmen. The author skillfully alludes to and directly addresses many of the controversial issues currently surrounding the Prius, and ultimately delivers a final product that leaves most people wondering "what could I get away with if I drove a Prius?"?”
