Final ReflectionAs I reflect on my personal professional development experiences as an educator, the realization of how one has developed over time is personally satisfying. Educating children, especially those with special needs, is an internal challenge. As a teacher it is important for this writer to have a positive influence on students. There will be some ideas that we will try to support and other discrimination that we will not allow. Everyone has their own beliefs, teachers should do what is necessary to not prejudice others, but show children a different way of thinking so that they have all the information they need to make informed choices. The children are open-minded and have not yet had to face or understand the injustices they will encounter. If children are taught from an early age, they will have the ability to succeed, especially children with special needs, as an educator. My primary goal is to teach about the purpose of public schools and education reform. My aim is to influence children and be a positive influence. Over the past eight weeks this writer has learned a tremendous amount of knowledge in a short period of time. Each module and activity clearly defined each objective covered in the readings. Reflection plays an important role in increasing one's self-awareness, after reflecting on the course assignments, the writer is ready to use the knowledge he has gained. After taking this course you will feel comfortable using the materials successfully in the professional world. Before taking this course many things about the laws and rights guaranteed to students with disabilities were not clear. Knowledge is power and knowledge has opened up the possibility for this writer to understand how a special educator...... middle of paper ......is not eligible for special education services. By writing this final essay for this course you are able to reflect on the knowledge you have acquired since the beginning of the course. This course has been affective and the benefits are in immediately using the information to correct mistakes and grow in the profession. After interviewing the lawyers and the special director of the education program, he realizes how important following the regulations is and must be followed. As a special educator you are more prepared and ready to provide a first-class education. Everyone who works with students with special needs should be prepared and understand the law.
