In America, video games are incredibly common. They are as common as cell phones or even computers. But even if the vast majority know who Mario or Zelda is, many games are not brought to the United States or are even banned for citizens outside the country where they were made. The Monster Hunter franchise is an example of a wonderful game that doesn't get the reputation it deserves in America. Monster Hunter Frontier deserves to come to America because of its fan base and parent company Capcom. Monster Hunter games can be explained simply by saying the name, monster hunting. It's not like ghosts and goblins, more like giant lizards or saber-toothed cats. Monster Hunter can be divided (for now) into four generations with new monsters and features added with each generation. Almost all of them allow for a custom hunter with various editable features, skin color, hair color, hairstyle, scars and markings (face paint and the like). Hunters can also choose from fourteen weapons that allow for different play styles. The choice is split between two divisions, a swordsman or a gunner. There are more weapons for weapons masters, around eleven, while gunners only have three. While it is largely meant to be a multiplayer game, most games only allow nearby players, and servers for internet play in several games have been shut down. The weapons used are balanced to have approximately the same advantages over problems, but there may be a problem using a certain weapon against certain monsters. Of course, the weapons are different for each type of hunter, from the full offensive hammer to the backup hunting horn to the long-range heavy crossbow. Story in games has never been a big point for MH, there is little or nothing... .... middle of paper ......lanet 2. In Metal Gear Solid you have the chance to fight a tigrex and a rathalos, monsters that have appeared in several MH games. In Lost Planet you can create Rathalos armor to fight with. Monster Hunter Frontier has even more collaborations with names like Dead Rising 2 and Devil May Cry, and others like Hatsune Miku. Monster Hunter Frontier should also arrive in the United States. There is already a good sized fan base and a huge potential audience. Monster Hunter Frontier's sheer amount of content makes it a magnificent representative of the monster hunter franchise and could be the game-changer that can make monster hunters as big as Call of Duty or Assassins Creed in the US. The little media for monster hunter games and the low connectability of current games are why there is little enthusiasm for current releases outside of Japan..
