Airsoft is a fun sport that is played all over the world, from America to Germany to China to Japan, and everywhere in between. For those of you who don't know what airsoft is, it is a combat simulation where players try to eliminate or "kill" other players by shooting them with a small plastic BB fired from an airsoft gun. Most people who are familiar with airsoft think that to participate in an airsoft game they must have a military uniform and equipment with weapons costing $400 or more. This is not true; anyone, even on a low budget, can compete in a game of airsoft, as long as the rules are respected and proper airsoft courtesy is applied. While anyone can compete in an airsoft game, there are limits to what you need to have to compete. You must have, at a minimum, an airsoft gun (obviously), a pair of weatherproof goggles, a dead rag and be decently dressed. Full-seal goggles are goggles with all gaps less than 6mm (the size of an airsoft BB); there are masks made specifically for airsoft and paintball, they usually cost between $10.00 and $20.00 ("Walmart.com"). A dead rag is a brightly colored piece of cloth that you tie to your arm or head after you have been "killed" so that no one shoots you thinking you are a threat. While you can wear pretty much whatever you want during an airsoft game, there is a limit to what your teammates will tolerate you wearing during an airsoft game. You must wear shoes and cannot wear a speedo, bikini or any other type of swimsuit; essentially the same dress requirements for service at McDonalds® apply to airsoft. While you can attend an airsoft game with just a t-shirt, shorts, flip flops, a gun and a dead rag, boots (that... middle of paper... and a gun; in fact that's all some airsoft players need to be the best in an airsoft game. One important thing that all airsofters need to do is treat everyone with the respect they are due, treat airsoft referees as you would in any other sport, and remember always treat airsoft as you would like to be treated, with kindness and respect.
