Technology has started a new era where computers and iPhones are the coolest things. Technology has been advanced so that it can do simple work just like people, so people will no longer be needed, because it is more efficient and faster. These are some technologies and some reasons about what technology can do now: the use of biotechnology, molecule-sized transistors, and nanotechnology. Here are some facts about what is happening with technology and how it can transform into a dystopian world. First of all, scientists have built nano robots that can enter the human body and move more efficiently. It is smaller than a strand of hair, about one in ten thousandth. They are trying to create intelligent nano robots that work as a swarm to destroy polluted air and water. Phil Kuekes, a computer scientist at Hewlett-Packard Labs and an expert in molecular-scale processors, says that "nanoscale smart devices could be injected as biological sensors into the body or for diagnostic purposes in the clinic" (Winner). Smaller devices can be injected into you so that doctors can better examine the inside of your body. Imagine how fast it would be to inject nanobots into you and after a couple of minutes they could find infections. Small machines are better at finding and eliminating pollution, so let's not make the situation worse by building big machines that produce more toxins. We could create a lot with nanotechnology: like creating medical robots to repair fractured or broken bones when injected into the human body, or creating nano robots that form a protective layer when something is about to hit the body. It could also help people be stronger and jump higher. Nano robots would support the bones and muscles of our body to make them stronger....... middle of paper...... people would be the lower class where they receive the minimum necessary to live, because no one would hire them. The strongest and smartest would get better things and jobs. Eating only the foods intended for your genetics takes away your ability to eat other foods. The government would give you a list of what we will eat for the rest of our lives. This can lead to worldwide problems and ultimately lead to a dystopian world. We have already created micro robots that can enter the human body. We have also made genetic modifications to fruits and vegetables. Third, we are creating nanotechnology so that it can destroy cancer cells. Ultimately, what will we really use them for after curing cancer? This technology can be used for warfare and the government could use it to take control of cities. Will we be safe from technology? It is up to our government to decide what to do.
