Todd is an assistant professor. He received his PhD. in Social Psychology from Northwestern University, 2009. His research interests are social cognition (Social Psychology Network. ,nd). Social cognition is described as what people pay attention to and how they interpret, use, store, and retrieve information (PSY 530 Lecture1, 2016). In his study he discusses the stereotype of black men in the United States. How they are seen as dangerous and threatening. Many stereotypes are formed from the media or other sources, but how strong are these stereotypes? The study consisted of 24 undergraduate students; each participant was shown 12 photographs of Caucasian men and 12 photographs of Black men. In some photos the direction of the gaze was direct, in others it was avoided. The results showed that black faces with direct gaze had a higher threat score than Caucasian male faces with direct gaze. For photographs that avoided the gaze results were the
