If there were about a million visitors this year, the park would make at least $8,000,000. Every dollar goes to the park and its rangers. While it may represent a nice revenue stream, it doesn't even cover a quarter of the cost of restoring the Everglades. The estimated cost to fully restore the Everglades will be about $10-14 billion and could take more than 15 years starting in 2015. The national park also employs hundreds of Floridians. Because Florida relies so heavily on the tourism industry, there are also many different activities offered in the Everglades area. Many tourists enjoy airboat rides in the wetlands or boat trips to see alligators and crocodiles. Over the past five years, tourists have collectively spent more than $500,000,000 in the areas surrounding Everglades National Park.
