Introduction Stakeholder analysis is important for the successful implementation of strategic projects and/or activities within any organization. It is used to analyze stakeholders to understand and classify them based on their power, influence and interest. Stakeholders are people who have interests in a business entity, including those inside and outside the organization. These include the boss, senior managers, customers, suppliers, government, colleagues, team and others. All these people are important to the implementation and success of the strategy. The stakeholder analysis tool is used to: -• Identify people or groups and institutions that will influence your initiative• Anticipate the type of influence, positive or negative, that these groups will have on your initiative • Develop strategies to gain the most support as effective as possible for your initiative and reduce any barriers to the successful implementation of your program. Below are the steps that can be followed in using stakeholder analysis: IDENTIFY THE STAKEHOLDERS You need to think about all the people who are to be affected by the project or strategy, those who have influence or power over it or they have an interest in its positive or negative conclusion. For IT projects, meeting key stakeholders in a forum to review the project's progress is key to its success. Therefore, a well-drafted project plan will ensure that there is sufficient stakeholder representation at regular project review meetings. Identify stakeholders who may attempt to halt or slow the successful implementation of the project. CONCLUSION In any project it is important to do a stakeholder analysis to be able to identify stakeholders and prioritize them based on power and their interest in the success of the strategy or project. Once identified, you need to fully understand what motivates them in this project and what could be done to gain much-needed support, thereby reducing barriers to a successful implementation. You may need to dangle carrots to get buy-in from key stakeholders. Incentives and rewards go a long way in motivating other stakeholders to achieve results-oriented efforts.
