One of the major problems in today's society that affects many people is low self-esteem and confidence issues. Beauty pageants don't help. Girls with "perfect bodies", whitened teeth and stiff hair all over with hairspray, prancing around in bathing suits, set an unnatural role model for young girls and that is what they aspire to become. Previously it was only about adult women, but today we are faced with a completely new category of beauty displays. Now, instead of 20-year-old women, there are children and teenagers. Children are taught harmful life lessons. For example, girls think they have to be beautiful. Pageants teach children that beauty is outside and not inside. When children are taught that beauty is only external, it can create big problems. Pageants make or break children. They either end up arrogant and stubborn or low on self-confidence because they lost to a girl who didn't have the most expensive dress or the best trainer money could buy. Every year around 3000 beauty contests are held around the world and around 3 million children aged between 6 and 16 take part. Youth gatherings like these have become increasingly popular recently and especially in the last couple of years - on television there are programs like "Toddlers and Tiaras" and "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo". These programs try to show the glamorous and beautiful side of beauty pageants, but many of the negative sides of pageants are not shown in these television programs. It is exceptionally difficult for children to see themselves as beautiful without all the elaborate accessories they wear. costumes, exaggerated makeup, fake tan and hair extensions. The root of low self-esteem issues comes from the fact that children are the focus of the card. The pursuit of flawlessness leads to permanent side effects and pushes girls to expect natural beauty to be unsatisfactory. We should teach little girls that beauty can be seen in everyone and not by how much makeup you wear. On the surface the shows may be seen as entertaining for those watching, but the long-term effects on the girls involved are very harmful. The way these children view their bodies negatively is an important consequence of the desire to appear perfect. Girls can get sick from the type of diet required for pageants and affect their eating habits for the rest of their lives. Child beauty pageants may seem, at first glance, beautiful and elegant, but when examined on a broader level, the dangers and negativity these children face become more and more apparent and ultimately change their lives for the worse...
