Topic > Public Transportation Act - 1155

BackgroundPublic transportation is in serious need of a massive overhaul in this nation. We desperately need to reach the European standard of public transport in this country. In Europe, citizens can travel across cities, bodies of water, and even counties thanks to their state-of-the-art public transportation system. Europeans are not as dependent on cars and oil as the United States is because they have the much more practical ability to take government-provided transportation wherever they need to go. They have established a model for the United States to pursue and achieve in the near future. The government is pouring billions of dollars every year into supporting and trying to fix the system we currently have in place, yet the transportation problem is not solved. improving. We are wasting time, money and resources with this useless system that tries to solve problems that are simply incurable and relies on an impractical method of transportation. Traffic, congestion and accidents plague this nation because each family has several cars and each family member must personally drive to separate locations every day. This simply doesn't work. Our roads and highways simply cannot keep up with population growth and our current lifestyle. Mass public transportation is desperately needed to solve this problem. Goals of the Bill Plain and simple, the goal of this bill is to provide American citizens with a desperately needed mass public transportation system. Our goal is to make public transportation accessible to all Americans and make it a new way of life. Furthermore, we are trying to reduce our dependence...... middle of paper ......to meet people's new standards and demands. We propose that this part of the bill be allocated $5 billion to accommodate subways and light rail. Every dollar spent from this bill will be meticulously reviewed by congressional committees and experts in every respected field to ensure not a dollar is wasted. Each part of this project will be supervised by people selected to carry out orders and supervise projects across the nation. We must ensure that time is not wasted and resources are not wasted. Projects funded by this bill will be held under a microscope and will never be allowed to spend a dollar without government consent. With this funding and government oversight, we will be able to meet the challenges of the future and provide accessible public transportation to every American within this great nation..
