Many English teachers have tried to improve my writing, but in the end my writing has always been mediocre. I had absolutely no motivation to try harder than necessary. Furthermore, I considered writing a waste of time and wanted to finish as quickly as possible so I could destroy my neighbors in video games or practice my jump shot. My negative attitude associated with writing blocked any possibility of development. Additionally, the teachers and education system made me cringe every time a writing assignment was presented to the class. The first teacher who successfully created in me a personal interest in developing my writing was my high school English teacher Ryan Miller. I never imagined that a difficult English lesson at seven in the morning could affect me so drastically. Not only did I finish the class with clear improvement in my writing, but I also formed a completely new perspective on the world around me.
