Mohandas “Mahatma” Gandhi is officially considered the Father of the Nation in India. Under his leadership and great belief, India achieved independence from the British Empire through peaceful campaigns based on nonviolence and civilized disobedience. Gandhi was born on Friday, October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, a coastal town in northwestern India. 'India, from a middle class family of two brothers, a sister and parents.
