IntroductionIn this assignment, Human Resource Management (HRM) of ASDA is explained. ASDA is one of the largest supermarkets in the United Kingdom. There are 180 stores and 180,000 employees across the UK. ASDA believes employees are “its most valuable asset”. ASDA's HR mission is that Employees (people) means everything, because "If we look after our colleagues, they will look after our customers" (ASDA,2014). That's why ASDA's human resources department called it the People Team. Based on ASDA, this report explains people management, importance of human resource management, recruitment and selection process, motivation, rewards and dismissal. TASK 1 Personnel Management (PM) and Human Resource Management (HRM) Human resource management is a management function focused on hiring, motivating and retaining people in the organization (Aswathappa,2007). At ASDA human resource management is known as people teams. Personnel management means an administrative discipline of personnel recruitment and development by the organization. The importance of HRME employees is the important statement in ASDA. HRM helps in planning staff needs and recruiting employees, staff development, staff benefits, employee health and well-being, providing a safe working environment, disciplining and dismissing staff, etc. Difference between PM and HRM The following table shows the difference between people management and human resource management. It explains this in the law on severance pay. Conclusion: Human resource management is important for every organization. People have an important value in the organization. The human resources department deals with human resource planning, recruitment and selection, motivation, monitoring and evaluation, rewards, dismissal and employee welfare. This assignment describes how HR plays an important role at ASDA.
