“Our competitors are better because Wal-Mart exists,” says Wal-Mart's chief financial officer. Wal-Mart is a retail store that provides consumers with high-quality groceries, electronics, appliances, and merchandise. The retail chain has made itself a household name in every home by selling products worldwide at a special price. Wal-Mart's strength and pace of growth have contributed to the establishment of a retail store in every city and state in America. Wal-Mart is a powerful conglomerate, contributing to businesses and people on a global scale by supporting the economy, creating jobs and improving the lives of millions of people. Wal-Mart is a place where millions of consumers shop every day. When people shop at a large retailer like Wal-Mart, it's clear that they are helping the economy by keeping the nation's largest retail chain in business. Wal-Mart supports the economy by having supercenters around the world, which create stores, jobs, income and profits. A chain of events occurs that benefits the economy and improves the lives of millions of people. Wal-Mart “opened an average of 16 new supercenters per month for five years.” [Fishman.Pg 3] The company's growth rate is substantially higher than any other company in the world. Wal-Mart helps workers and businesses by providing huge amounts of job opportunities. He states from Fishman's Wal-Mart effect passage: “It reaches deep into the operations of the companies that supply it and changes not only what they sell, but also changes how those products are packaged and presented, how the factory lives i workers who make the products are like this, sometimes even the country in which those factories are located changes” [Fishman.pg2]. Chain retail makes capitalism look glorious. Although all the actions taken by the store have been capitalist, it nevertheless shows people that capitalism is necessary to improve our economy and create jobs.
