Men and women are separated from the beginning of life. God placed Adam in charge of the Earth. When God created Eve, he took a piece of Adam's rib from his stomach to create Eve. From this story from the Bible, men believe that God made them better than women. And this has since created gender inequality between men and women. Gender inequality, as stated on The Free Dictionary website, is "the difference between women and men in social, political, economic, or other outcomes or attitudes, or the problem perceived to exist because of such difference". I think when it comes to women's sports, there is a pretty big difference between the sexes. Some of these differences are caused by men. A good example is that there are a huge amount of men who take it as a joke. Most men believe that women simply do not have the ability to have the strength and skills to compete with men. While others see it as women being too feminine to play and would cry and complain if they broke a nail. Some think that women are too fragile and that if they tried to compete with a man they would seriously injure themselves. I believe these opinions that men have about women in sport lead to gender inequalities in it. A great example to start with is investigating inequities at the collegiate level. I'm curious to see the number of women who are head coaches of a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) sport at the division one level. After I find these statistics, I will see how many of these coaches actually coach for a men's sport. I'm curious about this situation because I already know that there are more men who coach than women. I want to know why the NCAA has an inequality...middle of the paper...look that I think it deserves. Almost all women in sports practice just as hard as men. Women put blood, sweat and tears into their sport just like men do. Furthermore, women play sports even when Mother Nature visits them and it seems to me that it would take a lot of effort to continue competing. I saw Oklahoma point guard Whitney Hand in 2009 tear her ACL to such a degree that I know if this happened to any man, he would feel the same pain. I believe that if more men sat down and watched women's professional sports, then it could become a bigger empire. Works Cited ESPN "Oklahoma's Hand Done For Year." ESPN.com.
