Overview and Analysis of the Napoleonic Wars Europe has had a long history of conflict. Before the Napoleonic Wars that occurred between the years 1799 and 1815, there were other conflicts in the 18th century such as the Great Northern War, the Seven Years' War, the Pugachev Rebellion, and the French Revolutionary Wars. Under the leadership of Napoleon Bonaparte, France quickly battled numerous European nations to repeatedly defeat the Austrian, Prussian, and Russian armies in the series of conflicts of the Napoleonic Wars. The War of the First Coalition, which began in 1793 and ended a few years before Napoleon took command, had problems in all European nations and in some nations in Egypt, America, and South America. The first campaign of the Napoleonic Wars was the War of the Second Coalition. This coalition containing the nations in Europe of Russia, Great Britain, Austria, Portugal, and the Ottoman Empire was formed against the French, Napoleon's nation, in 1798. The nations were unsuccessful because they did not share the same goals and at this time in history , the countries were not determined to take power over France. Starting this expedition was something Napoleon was very excited about as he was already involved in the east and also despised Britain. Bonaparte shows this while he was not in Egypt taking part in the war because he was fighting the English. The Russians were under the authority of General Alexander Suvorov and the fighting took place mainly in northern Italy and Switzerland. General Alexander Suvorov got off to a good start by repairing some of the damage Napoleon had caused in Italy. Napoleon was so powerful that his French nation eventually defeated the Russians. In 1800 he defeated Austria... middle of paper... in France. Laws all over the world were affected because of the Napoleonic Code. This set of laws helped establish a democracy of economic stability because what it does is establish a new law that can eliminate the old customs laws of the monarchy government. Today we have constitutions thanks to his political ideology. Immediate impacts follow the list of military education, civil law, and military organization. Works Cited Dwyer, Philip G.
