Friends with benefits relationships, also known as FWBR, involve two individuals who are “friends” having sexual relationships (Bisson & Levine, 2007). According to Melissa A. Bisson and Timothy R. Levine, this relationship usually takes place in college towns that have neither been recognized as a passionate relationship nor an ordinary friendship since it is intertwined with both (2007). “FWB combines the psychological intimacy of a friendship with the sexual intimacy of a romantic relationship while avoiding the romantic label” (Mongeau, 2003). This article will define the concept of “True Friend” from Bisson and Levine's (2007) types of Friends with Benefiting Relationships. This concept will be defined by reliable research and will be applied to a real-life example of two friends.
