Half a century after the start of work in the field of exoskeletons, the first samples of this tool are ready to go into full-scale operation. The Lockheed Martin company recently boasted that its HULC (Human Universal Load Carrier) project has not only been conducted alongside Pentagon field tests, but is ready for mass production. The HULC exoskeleton today goes hand in hand with several similar designs from other companies. In reality, the idea of creating a device that could be worn by humans and significantly improve their physical qualities appeared in the first half of the last century. However, up until that point, it was just another idea of science fiction writers. The development of the viable system began only in the late 1950s. The General Electric Company, under the auspices of the US Army, launched a project called Hardiman. The terms of reference were incredible: GE's exoskeleton was supposed to allow a person to operate with loads of up to a thousand pounds (680 kilograms). The military planned to use the new technique to facilitate the work of Air Force gunsmiths. In addition, "in line" were nuclear scientists, builders and mass representatives of other industries. But even ten years after the start of the program, the engineers of "General Electric" failed to put all their dreams into metal.Recent history of Exoskeletons for military purposes were launched in 2000. Subsequently the US agency DARPA initiated the beginning of the EHPA (Exoskeletons for Human Performance Augmentation) program. The EHPA program was part of a larger "Land Warrior" project, which involves the creation of the future form of a soldier. But in 2007, Land Warrior was canceled, but its exoskeleton parts were taken to another project. The... paper medium... does not need high speed or loading capability. As for practical application, opinions on the concept have hardly changed over the past half century. However, the main users of advanced systems are considered military. They can use exoskeletons for loading and unloading, carrying ammunition and also in a combat situation to enhance the capabilities of the fighters. It should be noted that exoskeletons will be useful not only in the military field. A widespread technique, which allows a person to significantly increase their physical capabilities, can change the entire aspect of logistics and transportation. For example, the time for loading goods in the absence of semi-trailers will decrease significantly, which will increase the efficiency of the entire transportation system. Therefore, the development of the armed forces can once again improve the lives of not only soldiers..
