As discussed in class, some of the major trends are the aging of baby boomers, the sophistication of gangs, and the growing diversity of the population. These are all issues that have been stated in the framework which demonstrates that these are identifiable issues in Alberta. Officials of a certain culture can contribute to these trends of the future when they have the common goal of serving the community. This can be seen in a very recent issue regarding the Attawapiskat suicides. Additional officers were called to the area to help the community and provide assistance to young people. This is something that can be seen as an insight into police culture. The officers who are heading there to help the community and the officers who are already stationed on the reservation have a common goal of helping the youth and allowing the community to recover. One subculture of policing that may impact the future of policing trends are individuals who believe that the community policing model there is not the most efficient and effective way. An article published by blueline.ca titled Keeping Community in Community Policing, provides a detailed look at officers who believe in community policing and officers who have other points of view. We talk about how agencies can count arrests, fines, and crimes, but the one thing they cannot count is the amount of prevention (Gilchrist, 2013). There are
