William Wordsworth, Gerard Manley Hopkins, and William Butler Yeats are all iconic poets who pioneered writing and art in their time periods. With the changes from one era to another, great differences arise in the work of the authors, but they have key similarities that are always present. Despite being separated by nearly a century, William Wordsworth and William Butler Yeats share some similarities in their poems "Line Written in Early Spring" and "The Lake Isle Innisfree." In William Wordsworth's poem "Lines Written in Early Spring" it is stated in the first stanza: "I heard a thousand notes mingled, / As I lay in a grove, / Bringing sad thoughts to the mind." (lines 1-4 ) The author connects the narrator's nature and soul by leading negative thoughts running through his head lamenting "What man has made of man."
