Movie Trailers and Posters Analysis Movie posters come in a wide range of styles. Most have catchy images or slogans that appeal to a particular audience, and some simply try to appeal to everyone. They all have something in common: anchoring and catchy, some even have alliteration. You can find them almost everywhere: in cinemas, in historic centres, at bus stops, on the sides of buses, in magazines and on the internet. They're all trying to do one thing, get you to spend money on their movie. I will describe and explain what makes a good movie poster and then give an example. I will look at the general structure of movie posters. Usually a movie poster has a large image of a famous actor or actress who plays or has a main role in the movie, it can also show a scene from the movie. This is the anchor and a good selling point. Anchoring draws the reader's attention to surrounding features of the poster such as journal citations. The quotes usually say things like "BEST FILM OF THE YEAR says the sun" or "MUST SEE HIT cries mail" this helps sell the film to the reader of the poster. There are usually more than three quotes per poster. It is usually located in the corner of the poster or on the side. In addition to or instead of the quotes there may be small images (compared to the main image) of scenes from the film that show the best parts of the film. These filmed scenes usually contain action, comedy and romantic images. The images are related to the film and are suitable for the target audience. Along the top of the poster are usually the names of the main actors... in the center of the sheet... the notice leaves you wanting to see more of the film. The trailer gives the idea that you don't need to see the first film because it seems like a completely new plot and storyline. Many recognizable faces are shown in the film, such as Wesley Snipes who has starred in many good films throughout his career. . Just because Wesley Snipes is in the movie gives his fans enough of a reason to see the movie. The trailer also gives fans of the first BLADE film plenty of good reasons to see the sequel. One of them is a new breed of enemies and an alliance with the vampire race. I finished looking at movie posters and trailers. Although they are different, both have the same goal: to sell the advertised film for entertainment and profit purposes. Overall they are both affective towards their target audience.
