1. Caspar David Friedrich, Klosterfriedhof im Schnee (1819).A. My interpretation of this painting is as follows; he has a sad and dry mood. It's a cold winter day with dead branches giving it a dry and sad feel. The branches have no leaves which symbolize death. The background is very dull and the ground is full of snow which testifies to a typical cold winter day. There are crosses on the floor on the left side of the painting, as if people had died there. There are also people who enter some kind of entrance. Mostly this drawing looks very disturbing and depressing.B. The main story behind this painting is that it was a ruined nave, perhaps of the church. This cathedral was destroyed and as you can see the cathedral is all demolished. The purpose of this drawing was a reflection on the change that had occurred earlier in that time period. Death can be seen in the following; dead trees, the cemetery and the crosses on the floor on the left side of the image. Religion is also shown in this painting on the left side where there are crosses, which is also classified in the fantasy theme. Nature: This painting shows the element of nature. The forest in the German landscape with the snow showing a winter day and the trees show the nature theme in this particular drawing as well.2. Eugéne Delacroix (...... center of the sheet ...... h is a fantastic theme. Death is shown in the dead people on the raft who are lying on top of the raft with a dead emotion. Emotions: In this particular painting it shows the hopeless element.On the right side of the group of men on top of the raft you can see them raising their arms as if they are hoping for someone to save them In the painting some men are dead as shown in their faces which show hopelessness as they are already dead in the scene. Nature: The weather in the background of the image shows the theme of nature.
