Topic > Sacrifices in Fatherhood in "Everything Helps, Thief"

Successful fathers understand that their sacrifices change their child's environment. Bit understood that as long as Nick was happy, nothing else mattered. The cardboard sign that read “Everything helps” literally meant that any little thing helped Bit get closer to buying a book for her helpless child. Wayne on the other hand sacrificed his case to find a thief and make his son happy and comfortable. How he felt didn't matter. Children come first. The stories reveal kids who have disappointed their families and made bad choices. “None of Mr. Walter's characters ever recovers” (Maslin 1). Kids cause trouble for themselves. The question remains: where do we live?
