“Doping” is the term used for performance-enhancing drugs and is a major concern in professional sports today. These drugs are used to increase strength and weight, they also improve the endurance of athletes so that they can spend more time on the field. In all sports these drugs are illegal for the simple fact that they are considered cheating; some argue that they should be allowed to use these drugs. This is not true. The law of sport is honesty, and this isn't honest if drugs are needed to win. These athletes are role models for the younger generations who look up to them, and if these athletes are caught using performance-enhancing drugs, they are inducted into the Hall of Fame. that show for our younger generations? According to Bill Simmons some of the best players such as Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa and Barry Bonds, these players were all arrested for performance enhancing drugs and were still inducted into the Hall of Fame. This shows our kids that it's okay to cheat and that it's okay because they can still be inducted into the Hall of Fame. According to the World Anti-Doping Agency, sports are valuable for young people because they demonstrate. “Honesty, Excellence in performance, teamwork, dedication, respect for the rules and courage. (Procon.org). These six things are fundamental in any sport and if we teach our youth to obey and follow them, then is it right for us to make the professionals obey these? If they use performance-enhancing drugs, then they are breaking all these principles and this teaches our children that it is okay to cheat and not follow these six steps. According to Radley Balko steroids are drugs just like cocaine and marijuana and if the government catches people with drugs like these then they give them a very long jail time if... middle of paper... people take drugs that I don't want them to the public knows about it, therefore it invades the privacy of the players (Debate.org). I don't believe that, I think if athletes played professional sports they should be a role model and shouldn't have to worry about what people think, if that role model isn't doing anything they shouldn't worry about being drug tested. In conclusion, professional athletes should be tested for performance-enhancing drugs. They are role models for young adults and have many health problems. If they use performance enhancing drugs it gives players an unfair advantage, fans and recruiters should also be able to trust our professional athletes, they should have nothing to hide. I don't think it invades privacy. They are in the media every day, so this should not invade their privacy. But this is how I feel about professional athletes being drug tested.
