Wondering why Mom didn't wake me up, I got out of bed to see that she was still sleeping. Running around the house I threw on my gear, woke my sleeping mother and ran out the door. Driving down the road, my mother was checking that I had all my gear and was fully prepared to compete in this big event. Assuring her I had everything, she then asked if I had eaten anything before walking out the door. I immediately responded with a nonchalant “Yes mom,” knowing full well that I had never even thought about breakfast. As we approached the runway, my stomach growled and made me feel nauseous. I then proceeded to unhitch the bike from the trailer. After removing the bike from the trailer, I headed towards the track. After doing my training run, I could feel my head throbbing with a headache. Without thinking, I continued preparing for the big race. As soon as the light turned green that Saturday evening, I had no idea what awaited me. I came off the starting line and took the lead. Trying to execute each jump as crisply and smoothly as possible to continue my momentum. Throughout the long race I could feel my body weakening as I struggled to stay upright on the bike. We're getting closer
