Information technology has advanced in multiple ways in society, where organizations have implemented the framework in their work environment. Industries have outsourced production to other locations around the world and rely on telecommunications to maintain marketing. Geographic distribution has changed significantly by reducing the distance needed to complete a task, thanks to information technology. These are just a couple of examples of how this advanced technology has reshaped our society and continues to do so. The New York Police Department has structured some IT applications to help optimize business performance in reducing crime compared to street patrols. Some of the implications involved in information systems are input, processing, output and feedback. Computer Statistics (COMPSTAT) uses geographic information systems (GIS) to help police respond to crimes more quickly. In the context of predictive policing, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threat analysis (SWOT analysis) are evaluated. All these topics will be discussed in this document. Police departments across the United States needed a more efficient way to share information across geographic areas to help prevent and respond to crimes more quickly. After 9/11, the Fusion Center beefed up security operations to gather better intelligence. Fusion centers are regional and very efficient when it comes to providing information to local governments. Bart Johnson started as a law enforcement officer 32 years ago and has seen many changes come to the police department's fusion center. According to (Roberts, 2011), Johnson states, “With better intelligence, you can concentrate resources where they are needed most” (paragraph 3). CompStat: Critical Point to Consider.
