Green Mountain Resort Case StudyIntroductionIn this week's assignment we will discuss change management images and how they relate to the Green Mountain Resort case study. I will first identify the images of change advocated by the key actors in the case study. We will then examine how the hypothesized images of change influenced problem management in the case study. Then we will apply further image editing to the case study and discuss the possible outcome. Then finally I will discuss reflections on the text's statement “if we only rely on a particular frame, then this will distance us from thinking about what is happening from an alternative perspective” (Palmer, Dunford, Akin p. 42, 2009). What images of change were identified in the case study The first part of this week's assignment is to identify the images of change discussed in this reading as they relate to Gunter, the resort manager, hospitality literature, and the resort consultant Green Mountain Resort Case Study. Before we look at these areas in the case study, let's take a minute to look at what the six images of change management are. Our text explains that the six different images of change management are 1) Director, 2) Navigator, 3) Caretaker, 4) Coach, 5) Interpreter and 6) Nurturer (Palmer, Dunford, Akin pages 27-34, 2009 ). Let's take a look at Gunter, the resort manager, and the image change that seems to address the turnover problem in the story. Gunter approached the situation from the director's image with logic and tried to control the situation and correct/change the organization problem (staff turnover). Gunter also seemed to show an optimistic view that he could change/solve the resort's problem as long as he followed the correct...... middle of paper ...... ain Resort. We first examined the images of change held by the key actors in the case study. We then discussed how the hypothesized images of change influenced the management of the employee turnover problem in the case study. Then we will apply further image modification to the case study and discuss the possible results. Finally I will discuss the possible meaning of the text's statement “if we only rely on one particular frame, then this will distance us from thinking about what is happening from an alternative perspective” (Palmer, Dunford, Akin pg 42, 2009).
