A Raisin in the Sun is basically about characters wanting to be who they want to be. A Raisin in the Sun shows all the tension between white and black society. The play portrays many different things through the actions of the characters. The play contains a lot of greed, when it comes to moms' money. Mama's boy wants the money all for himself, and mama wants to give it to the whole family. The characters and symbols in the play play an important role in showing the different views of African Americans in America and the issues that were taking place during all of this. The main characters are Walter, Mom and Beneatha. Walter is the hero and enemy of the play, he wants to get rich and starts a plan with his friends to try to get rich. He is a very rebellious husband, son and brother, because in scene II mom gave the rest of the money to Walter to divide between him and his sister and he gave it all to BoBo to start. ...
