The story that people love; Romeo falls in love with Juliet and they get married. They are forced to hide, which leads Juliet to pretend to be dead. Romeo's love struck kills himself, when Juliet wakes up to actually kill herself, a fantasized love story. However, another aspect of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet tragedy that fans don't look at is who is responsible for it. The dominant male characters, Friar Laurence, Lord Capulet and Romeo are mainly responsible for the story. Friar Laurence's immature actions make him part of the tragedy. First, he married Romeo and Juliet. When told that Romeo loves Juliet, Frate replies, "Holy St. Francis, what a change is here! / Has Rosaline, whom you loved so dearly, / been forsaken so soon? The love of the young then lies / not truly in hearts, but in their eyes" (II, III, vv. 66-69). Friar was immature and married them anyway. Then, Friar came up with the idea of Juliet faking death. Juliet is distressed that Romeo has been banished, so Friar proposes the plan by saying, “Wait, then. Go home, be cheerful, give consent / to marry Paris. Wednesday is tomorrow," so Juliet should "Take this vial, lying then in bed/And drink this distilling liquor." After being buried and awakened, "Romeo will bear thee hence to Mantua." (IV, I, Lines 90- 119).This bad advice, of giving a girl to drink like death and telling her to run away, is just one of many immature actions taken by Frate. Ultimately, Frate did not stay with Juliet after she frantically woke up, in one tomb, next to another sick husband who was supposed to escape with her to Mantua.... middle of paper ... until being alive Finally, Romeo's haste is responsible for his own death poison saying: "Here's to my love. O true pharmacist, / Your medicines are quick. So with a kiss I die" (IIIIII, III, 123-124). Romeo wanted to die soon and wasted no time in buying poison after finding out that Juliet was dead. In conclusion, Romeo's haste was an important part of the tragedy because if Romeo had taken a step back, much would not have happened. There are two sides to every story, even if it is Romeo and Juliet. Behind all the love and roses there is a less attractive meaning, something that many don't. they know I don't want to think about it. Friar Laurence, Lord Capulet and Romeo brought the tragedy upon themselves, but sometimes we have only ourselves to blame. Work cited Shakespeare, William “Romeo and Juliet”., 1992.
