During this time the public elected more than ten new presidents, and each president brought with him a term or two of laws and regulations. The world has fought numerous wars and some countries have made lifelong enemies during this time. While seventy years doesn't seem like a long time in the scheme of things, even one year would provide plenty of variation from the previous year. The government has yet to pass laws that will allow gay marriage to be legitimized. At the time there was no amendment stating that a presidential candidate was only eligible for election and for completing two terms. The laws even mercilessly eradicated the draft; making the likelihood of the military forcibly taking an American citizen against their will in times of war much less likely. Captain America has developed together with the people of the United States to become more welcoming, open and ironically modern. The evidence points to a notable change in Captain America's political values, but only to the extent that the American people have adapted over the past seventy years or so. With the introduction of new laws and peoples in the United States, people enjoy more freedom and freedom than before. In today's world, Rogers still stands for freedom, but he protects greater freedoms than ever before
