Sigmund Freud, arguably the most famous and controversial psychologist of the twentieth century, helped shape the way we view our worldview. His theories bring forward a new kind of thinking in the world of psychology and show why we think them. It's a way many don't think about but could argue it. There are many, however, who think that Freud was just another crazy psychologist who used drugs. Although his numerous evidence behind his main theories such as: the conscious and unconscious mind, the Id, the Ego and the Superego, the psychosexual theory and also others, can demonstrate why it was not just a journey with drug. it is divided into three sections according to Freud. It consists of the conscious, preconscious and unconscious mind. In Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory of personality, the conscious mind consists of everything within our awareness. (Psychology) This part of the mind is known for holding our senses, memories, and perception in our awareness. This part of our mind can also connect to our preconscious mind, through the things we are not aware of when the thought about its presence is in our conscious mind now. The preconscious mind is the part of the mind that represents ordinary memory. (Psychology) We can remember these things and always bring them back into our conscious mind when necessary. This makes a lot of sense in relation to Freud's thinking which brings out a link between the conscious mind and the preconscious, showing how we can do things in our conscious mind and be stored in our preconscious for later use. The third part of our mind is the unconscious mind. The unconscious mind is a reservoir of feelings, thoughts, impulses, and memories that lie outside of our conscious awareness. (P...... middle of paper ...... earlier in a person's life and the individual develops a strong sexual interest in the opposite sex. (Psychology) This stage represents how an individual is more interested in their own pleasure seek thoughts such as relationships and/or sexual thoughts. This can affect the way we humans think and the way we react to many things. It seems that this information does not make sense even if the theories seem to be connected they connect to each other and have some evidence behind each. It all seems reasonable when there are too many and is always used as a reference in the world of psychology. There are many critics of Freud's work because of the time he lived in and how much he influenced his thinking. Others explained how the medications he was taking may have led him to think about all of these theories, although with the evidence behind some of them it can go either way...
