The loss of many job opportunities in urban centers has increased the incentive to sell drugs to earn a living. This of course led to numerous arrests which resulted in the head of the family going to prison and his poverty continued to worsen as the only money input was taken by law enforcement. “If there were more opportunities to earn a living, there would be less drugs, theft and violence” (Falk). Providing poor areas with better opportunities to succeed and have a better future would have been the end of violence, but that is not the case because the only way to survive in this area is to do what the law considers wrong and most of these people are risking their livelihood opportunities just to provide basic household needs for their family. Poverty is a big step in the penal system because without money you are technically nobody and you have to obey whatever you are told because you can't afford a lawyer and what if the justice system doesn't decide on our side? Law enforcement takes advantage of these areas because they like to attack someone based on their race and will do anything to get someone on their way to prison. Poverty may end if these areas were given more opportunities just like white people are, but in this world luck depends on their
