The American community, for example, still believes it is superior. As a result, it imposes its culture, beliefs and language on immigrants and other countries. Throughout the novel, Anzaldúa seeks the support of Chicanos by encouraging them to be proud of their culture. He hopes that by doing so, they will be able to combat the oppressive nature of dominant cultures like that of the United States. It ends on a powerful and hopeful note, which has inspired other minorities, for whom it is not too late, to fight for their language.
