Small, Effective Solutions to a Broken Education System In my quest to find a school for my children, I was disappointed with my options. Since my children and I are a low-income family, we also have limited housing options where the best schools are. I decided to give area schools the benefit of the doubt and enroll my two children, Mikkayla and Pharoah. Throughout my school years, I took notes on things I saw and learned about schools and my neighborhood. My goals are to establish ways to improve the school system and help bring about change in the school neighborhood. To successfully communicate my findings and objectives, I divided my paper into three sections, including two sections with a subsection. The first section will explain the Oklahoma City Public School Grading System. I will also take two schools and explain some factors that contribute to the grades each school receives. My second part will outline research on ways to help improve our education system. The subsection will address how to finance such improvements. I will then close my article with my proposal on how to achieve greater parental involvement in schools. The subsection will cover ways to better involve the school district. Before I can explain my research, I will begin by reviewing the experience I had with each of my two children's schools and what sparked my interest in choosing this topic for research. My children are Mikkayla and Pharoah. They both started their studies with Headstart. This program is offered to low-income families and funded by the state. Both Mikkayla and Pharoah have benefited greatly from this program. There were smaller classes and the teachers were able to teach and the kids... middle of the paper... should still be involved in the school system. Community involvement as a key factor. Our community is where we live, work and play. Improving our community and helping each other is equally important. The key is to invest money in the community and sponsor events to bring it together. When everyone feels welcomed, they are more likely to care more and be more engaged. Community organizations can be formed to assist in this effort. I have discovered that we must give time and care to our children. They are the ones who will take care of us. Greater involvement of parents in their children's lives, community collaboration with schools, better technology, a better mix of educational materials and legislation that stops cuts to education funding are key tools in providing support for that our children need to succeed in school..
