Looking at the ground, the Misfit says, "I'd hate to have to do that." “Listen,” Grandma almost shouted, “I know you're a good man. You don't seem to have common blood at all. I know you must come from good people. It all happened so fast. The car had overturned and crashed. A murderer was in the presence of the family. Grandma begged the Misfit's mercy in every way she could. The character of the selfish grandmother, in Flannery O' Connor's short story, "A Good Man is Hard to Find", tries to use her manipulative ways to fight starting almost from the end of the story which is then talked about. manipulation and how grandma does it states different forms of text and goes on to talk about each and how it applies to manipulation the conclusion will include the end of the story I stated at the beginning and will summarize what I overall thought of the story and the parts that I analyzed. The hero is typically a strong, good-natured person by Hollywood standards, but some authors take the liberty of changing this definition. Authors such as Flannery O'Connor in her story “A Good Man is Hard to Find” redefine the hero with the character of the grandmother. This character is usually loved by everyone and highly respected, but the grandmother is not lovable or liked. People who read the story often feel a strong dislike towards him. She's annoying. O'Connor doesn't follow the hero's journey to the letter. It strives to make the reader think about their feelings towards the characters in different ways. Grandma often thought that if she dressed up and acted the part of a lady, she would act in an acceptable manner, but the way the reader sees her actions is not right.
