I will recommend that nurses use these effective listening strategies while encouraging the patient to explain their interpretations of their medical condition and plan of care. I will also introduce the new unit based questionnaires given to patients at discharge before they leave the unit. Plan effective 10/19/2015 During Huddle Tuesday 11/3/2015 and again on 11/5/2015 I will receive feedback from staff on their input and results of implementing a new way to report shifts. I will use effective listening to ask questions regarding the timeliness and effectiveness of the change with the shift report and whether the nurse was able to ascertain whether the patient seems engaged, disinterested, or asking questions during the bedside report. By 11/13/2015, the team leader and I will evaluate questionnaires from patients to interpret their satisfaction with the nursing interaction and whether they feel their concerns have been heard and
