However, the most important thing is to be able to distinguish between hunger and appetite. I'm sure everyone has confused the two before. I'm also sure that this was a primary influence for the "Half Ton World" people. Hunger is our physical need to eat and occurs every 4-6 hours. While appetite is our psychological desire to eat. Cravings can occur when we smell delicious food, depending on the time of day and through our eating habits. I fully recognize appetite control in my life. It's extremely difficult not to eat the brownies I see on the table or order the popcorn I smell at the movie. I also know that when I get home from school I feel hungry. In all these cases, I am not hungry, but I want to eat. For the people of “Half Ton World”, this strong appetite for control combined with other psychological problems such as loneliness is a trap. In some cases it is easy for people to ignore satiety. I can understand this concept too. For example, some foods can only be prepared on a special occasion or on a certain day of the year. I'm guilty of this around Christmas time. Many of the dishes prepared are only served at Christmas, as a result I overindulge and put aside my satiety. That's because the food is so good and my mind is having too much fun to let my stomach take over. For those who have such a passion for food, I can understand this feeling. However, it is important not to let this feeling take over our daily lives. If we put satiety aside and let appetite control our life, obesity is certain to occur. In addition to recognizing appetite, assessing body weight will protect individuals from obesity. Although BMI is noninvasive, it is an inadequate mechanism for testing fat percentage. This is because it incorrectly distinguishes fat from muscle. Fat fold testing and waist measurement are more accurate methods of testing fat
