Topic > Analysis of human wrongs related to animal rights by Tom Regan

Regan talks about how some animals are killed and beaten, but does not go beyond describing some situations of animal cruelty. Since humans control the lives of many animals in this world, I think that humans violate the moral rights of animals and also their intrinsic value because they cannot live a life that is better or worse for themselves. This is true because many humans simply see animals as meanness, meaning they do not care about an animal's life and therefore do not treat them with any value compared to the way they treat humans. However, I agree with Tom Regan's plan to bring light to the animal rights debate by taking action today and speaking on behalf of animals because they cannot speak for themselves and without humans speaking for them, animal rights do not can ever exist. Furthermore, I agree with many of the points made by Tom Regan in his article "Animal Rights, Human Wrongs", but conclude that for his animal rights argument to be strong everywhere, he should make sure to broaden the variety of animals he is talking about are held and killed by humans. In conclusion, I believe that if an animal has rights, then EVERY animal should have rights. If Regan talked more about the lives of controlled animals, he would really be able to demonstrate that humans are taking away the basic rights that animals should have, including human rights.
