Indeed, Cinderella herself is a great example of how women should not be deprived of their potential. The best known Cinderella story is the “Disney version”. This version is highly criticized by feminists due to Cinderella's lack of action. Peggy Orenstein wrote an article in the New York Times in 2006 commenting on princesses in today's society. She talks about how every little girl these days should be fascinated by princesses. Notice how they can't grow up wanting to be heroes or anything like that. This is similar to “The Yellow Wallpaper” because because of princess stories like Cinderella, little girls are so often made to want to be princesses just as in the tale, wives have to succumb to their husband's authority and 'superior'’
