In this article I will start my argument since both Amanullah Khan and Ataturk took power. What they inherited that facilitated the implementation of the reforms, how they implemented the reforms, what the culture was like for the new reforms. How did the reforms benefit and endanger people, and who suffered the most from the reforms? How the territory, foreign policy and personality of these leaders influenced their reforms. Amanullha Khan became king after the assassination of his father in 1919, who was very eager to have a modernized state in Afghanistan. First let's see what the conditions were like in this country before its new reforms. Since Afghanistan was founded in 1747, it was a good opportunity for this country because if Ahmad Shah Baba had not had that position in Nader Shah's army and had not controlled his treasury after his killing, at this point we would not have never had this country. Ahmad had a policy that would move his empire towards a centralized system in the future, but he was strengthening internal rivals to become a centralized state. The leaders of Afghanistan until Abdul Rahaman Khan were unable to implement Till Charles' policies for creating a modern state. Afghanistan was a rentier state and did not have a robust economy when Amanullah took power, which was very important for his reforms. According to Danziger James, economic development means how much the economy has expanded or there are more goods, services and technology in the country. Obviously, the economy of Afghanistan since its foundation was fragile and weak due to the bad policies for economic activities by the former rulers, the composition of the territory and the agricultural economy. According to James' definition of economic development, Afghanistan did not have a healthy economy at all... middle of paper... too much pressure on the poor at one time. Amanullha was also not well educated and could analyze the conditions of the Afghans before and during the reforms. The army was more important for Amanullah Khan than for Ataturk because the Turks lived in a sedentary civilization, more educated, influenced by the West, less group feelings and nationalism helped to be united. In Afghanistan there was no nationalism that could bring Afghans together under one umbrella because there was no common enemy for all Afghans, instead there was ethnicity that dispersed society. (Smith, 1986) Extraction was the main reason for Amanullah Khan's reforms which stimulated people to oppose him in a non-social way. Social reforms were affecting urban areas which were not completely dissatisfied, not all rural areas, so it helped group feeling and Islam to strengthen the opposition, even a strong army failed to subdue them later.
