Leonardo Da Vinci conducted many scientific experiments on the human body, which have benefited society in many ways even today. Da Vinci became interested in how birds fly, how the body is able to move, and how living things breathe. He began dissecting human bodies to see what the inside of the body looked like. From here, he drew sketches of what he saw and formed ideas about how the body works. He had to dissect about 30 different bodies to get the correct design. One of his great contributions was to have started the scientific revolution. It has transformed the way scientists have done research ever since. Da Vinci performed the dissection on men, women and unborn fetuses. He also drew over two hundred anatomically correct sketches. The purpose of his dissection was to determine what the body looked like as a whole, and he also wanted to understand how muscles and bones work together. Much of his discoveries were overlooked due to his lack of proper education. Leonardo Da Vinci also invented the first triple-barreled cannon. Furthermore, Leonardo created it because it was a fast and light weapon, which could cause massive damage on the battlefield. Leonardo's design featured three thin cannon barrels, which could be adjusted vertically. Leonardo's cannon allowed soldiers to fire three times before firing, unlike the conventional cannon which had one barrel and had to be reloaded after each shot.
